Rahul Bose Campaigns against rising Domestic Violence; receives support from Bollywood celebs and CM Uddhav Thackeray!

The spread of coronavirus has affected the entire nation. As the people remain under quarantine, the number of domestic violence cases has substantially raised.

Bollywood actor Rahul Bose has regularly raised his voice against evils of the society. He once again intends to do the same by campaigning against rising domestic violence amid the lockdown. He has been associated with an NGO that works towards women empowerment for a decade and has come up with the campaign. 

A report in Hindustan Times quoted the actor as he believes the video - titled #LockdownOnDomesticViolence and featuring a string of celebrities, including Madhuri Dixit Nene, Karan Johar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Anushka Sharma was necessary as cases of domestic violence have witnessed a spike amid the lockdown. 

An on-ground campaign is the need of the hour. During the lockdown when the male members of the family are staying at the house, they get frustrated. Females, who had a little freedom in the absence of the males, are also not getting it. So, the frustration is building up for both. Naturally, there is more domestic violence under these situations.

The video has been curated in three languages - Marathi, Hindi and English with an attempt to reach to people across the globe. Bose reasoned the idea behind making a multi-lingual video as he said, “The English campaign has been noticed by people the world over. Marathi was specifically for this state and Hindi to reach out to everyone in the country.” 

He shared that the idea of the campaign was to create a larger impact and reach everyone across different cultural and socio-economic status.

He further mentioned that the idea received support from Chief Minister of Maharashtra - Uddhav Thackeray as well.

It is great that along with prominent Bollywood celebrities, and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra (Uddhav Thackeray) supported the campaign.

Meanwhile, several Bollywood celebrities are doing their best by making donations across all sectors of the nation.
