Ever since the sequel for Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji starrer Bunty Aur Babli was announced, fans have been eager to know more about the upcoming project. Earlier, various reports from various entertainment websites stated that the talks about making a sequel had been going on for a long time and now the production house has finally decided to execute the project.

A source quoted by Pinkvilla shared, “Unlike Bunty Aur Babli, the second installment will not have just Rani and AB Junior. There will be two pairs of actors with a jodi from the younger generation of actors joining the two main leads from the original.”

Based on two individuals, who hail from small towns and eventually become con artists to fulfill their dream of becoming rich and famous, the movie became one of the biggest hits of the year. After weeks of speculations and Abhishek Bachchan opting out of the project, a report from Deccan Chronicle states that Bollywood actor R Madhavan is all set to step into Abhishek’s shoes for the role.

As per a trade analyst, quoted by Deccan Chronicle, “The lead cast for this film will be Gully Boy Siddhant Chaturvedi and newcomer Sharvari Wagh. Earlier, Rani and Abhishek were to play extended cameos in the film, but Abhi has stepped out and Madhavan has stepped in especially with Shaad (Ali) not directing the film.”

This is not the first time Madhavan has replaced Jr. Bachchan in a project. The 49-year-old actor had replaced Abhishek in the web-series Breathe, and also in Simmba, only to be replaced by Sonu Sood later. And now, Madhavan will also replace Abhishek in the Bunty Aur Babli sequel.

The sequel is said to be directed by Varun V. Sharma, who was earlier a chief assistant director to Ali Abbas Zafar in Tiger Zinda Hai and was a part of the script team in Bharat and Sultan apart from Shaad’s Kill Dil.
