Producer Priti Sinha, daughter of producer Vinay Kumar Sinha is excited and thrilled about the second season of &TV's 'Darr Sabko Lagta Hai'. The show's first season was conceptualised by directors, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and was hosted by Bipasha Basu.

The second season has been on air and is three episodes old. We had a conversation with producer, Priti Sinha who spills some beans over the expectations from the second season, Tigmanshu Dhulia's appointment as the creator and other projects..

Reel Life Entertainment is known for producing films and 'Darr Sabko Lagta Hai' was your debut television venture. How do you feel about this makeshift?

You know, it isn't a makeshift per se. My father, producer Vinay Kumar Sinha has been in the industry for over 45 years and has been responsible for producing several films including the iconic 'Andaz Apna Apna'. Also, he is currently scripting 'Andaz Apna Apna 2'. However, along with films, our company is simultaneously venturing into television. Vikram (Tamil superstar) and I are directors in the company, Reel Life Entertainment' who are doing television shows. After the response to the first season of 'Darr Sabko Lagta Hai', I am excited about the second season.
How do you feel about India's acceptance of horror genre on television? It is usually typecast as shoddy and not-so-scary, so how do you feel this show is any different from the others?

I am absolutely aware about the beliefs and notion people have towards watching horror on Indian television. But, the first season of 'Darr Sabko Lagta Hai' which was made by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. was appreciated only because they added their own style of portraying horror, which was distinctive and appealing. The second season is now being presented by Tigmanshu Dhulia, who is adding his own flavour to it. We are done with three episodes and I remember my dad telling me this is amazing. It is at par with film quality and even better at places.
Tigmanshu Dhulia is an accomplished film director, who hasn't really explored horror on the big screen. So, how is he shaping up the series on the small screen?

When I met Tishu (Tigmanshu Dhulia), he told me that we should make horror as a motivated genre. He asked me, "How in the world can a ghost be a serial killer? Its preposterous! (laughs)." What he meant by that statement was that the youth has to be motivated and has to be made aware instead of the apparent 'not-able-to-believe' stuff. He wants the stories to be rooted and provide that much needed change. And he is absolutely doing that now.
What are your expectations from the show? How do you think the show's vision is shaping up?

I have a lot of expectations from the show, simply because we have worked very hard on it. To be honest, we haven't had any life since in the last few days. But, this hard work to transpire into good results is pivotal and once that happens, everything is valid and worth it. The business head of & TV, Rajesh Iyer and Sunanda Jenna have been the true pillars in shaping up this show. They are visionaries and have given us total creative freedom pertaining to the show. It is because of them, this show has become possible. I am currently extremely happy with the way the show is shaping up.
With this show being the second season, are you planning to produce more fiction shows or finite series?

Honestly, yes! We are in plans to produce more shows in the near future. However, I am someone, who likes to take things slow and steady. I want to concentrate on one show at a time. So, once this is done, I will probably take up another show. I hope the audience like this effort and it changes a lot of pre-accepted norms.
