Mauli Dave who became famous overnight with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and was also the first runner up at Fear factor and recently sung the title track of  the film 'Players' is currently seen trying her hand at comedy in Comedy Circus. This tall lass is getting rave reviews for her comedy stint. Here she speaks exclusively to Tellybuzz.

How many years have you been training?
As a Singer, under whom I Have been officially learning Hindustani Classical Vocal since I was 8 years by Divyang Thakur, but actually started learning since I was 1 from my grandparents who were both Visharath in Sangeet.

Describe your training days?

I started learning at a very young age so for me music was in my blood. I was born with it and just enjoyed music and every melody that I learnt. I always learned the tunes and memorized the notations much faster than the other kids even though some of them were my seniors and five times my age. I never read what I was taught, I only memorized, because for me music was within me and never felt comfortable reading notations or memorizing it. I had the greatest teacher and is always there for me. He taught me to just enjoy music and not worry about the exams others took to get to visharath. He said as long as you are in pitch and not out of 'sur' and you're singing from the soul, there is no test that can matter. He is and will remain my only true "Guru." I hope I am making him proud today.

How has your education helped you?

It's helped me polish up my singing because, I truly do believe an artist is born and education can only polish him or her into becoming better but cannot make an artist. I am thankful for getting the right Guru because that's the most important think in education. He taught me the soul of music.

How is it pairing with Krushna abhishek?
It was great pairing with both Krushna Sudesh as they are a pair and I can't pick ...they are an awesome team and individually great comedians as well as human beings. I learnt a lot from them and definitely had a great time throughout our shoots.

What do you think you have learnt from him?
I learnt minute details about performing comic skits on stage for example,Voice modulation and comic timing.

What are the qualities required for becoming a good comedian on stage?
I think that's actually something that can't be defined. A comedian to me is noticed the moment he or she arrives on stage. His/her body language, confidence, facial expressions and voice versatility are just a few noticeable factors, but that's something that can't be created. Either you are a natural comedian or you're not.

Describe your experience of trying your hand at comedy?
I loved it! I honestly didn't have that much of a hard time because as a person I am pretty goofy and crazy; you can ask those who know me :) ...and I love acting so I got to just let it all out freely on the stage of Comedy Circus...I enjoyed it so much I'll be sad when it ends for me as I am a celebrity guest on the show.

What is your dancing qualification?
I had learned Bharatnatyam from my Ma. I started learning when I was only 6 years old. Later on wards, when my parents sent me and my brother to study in Ahmedabad for 5 years I started learning Kuchipudi at the age of 8. I got my diploma in Kuchipudi after doing my "Rangapravesham" (a completing act of performing in front of an audience for 2 hours non-stop) only when I was 12 years old. Later, after returning to America when I was 12, I learned Odissi for 2 years in Houston and Hip Hop as well. I also choreographed and performed for my Mother's dance School in Houston, Texas since I was 12.

Why you are fond of dancing?
It's another way of expressing myself; just like music. Secondly, dance is music too; because without rhythm there's not dance. Dance is a perfect combination of music, acting and movement. That's why I love it so much.

Will you like to be part of Jhalak Dikla Ja?
Yeah1 why not? Because it's India's best Dance show for celebs who are mainly from a different field and love dancing. Most of all, I really want to express and present the other side of me, the one which loves to dance. Everyone knows me only for my singing, for which I am very grateful for, but I am also a very elegant and beautiful dancer which I really wish to show my fans as well as those who want to see and know the real Mauli.

What makes you attracted t o dance shows?
Simple! The quality of dance.

Who are your favourite dancers in Bollywood and why?
Govinda, Madhuri DIxit and Hritik Roshan. I mainly like these three dancers because they don't only dance perfectly, they express with immense passion facially while dancing.
