Actress Additi Guptaknown for shows like "Ishqbaaz" and "Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil", says she doesn't like to step out for gold shopping on Dhanteras, being celebrated on October 17 this year.

"I had earlier tried to get gold and silver coins on Dhanteras, but now I don't enjoy it as shops look like fish markets," the actress said in a statement.

While the shops selling metals are generally full of buyers, there are other items that she likes to purchase.

"There are good offers for a lot of products that can be gifted to orphans. So I urge others to buy a gift for them and try to light up the festive day and enjoy sweets and snacks with them, the way I do every year," she said.

Okay why are people getting offended here?!! I am not even her fan and find this article completely normal!! An interviewer asked her a question about shopping in a particular festival and she gave her opinion!! What is there to create such a ruckus about?? People these days get offended in such petty issues it just completely baffles me!!

what she think of herself...the real pleasure you get of the festival is by shopping in the market ...at tht time crowd gives u the feel of the warmth and vibrance of the festival...its def doesnt give the feel of a fish market...she shd just mind her tongue...she is talking like a foreigner...

Well I never enjoy shopping and it certainly is a turn off to shop around.
If ppl have no sense in understanding such a simple fact - there is nothing we can do about it.
Ppl shop online - one of the reason is to save time with line ups and crowd at the shops.
You must also realize India as a whole is hugely populated country line ups are there every single place ppl go to.
It's just not possible to enjoy this or waiting or being pushed around.
Additi wish you and fans of India forums a beautiful Festival of Lights - May this be a reason for everyone to smile.

Additi Gupta rocks. She said the ugly reality of Diwali and all the greedy and selfish gold buyers here r barking at her.
She doesn't need anyone's certificate. She is 100% absolutely right in what she said. Hats off to her!

I am baffled as to why anyone would be considered vamp like for saying anything Additi has said.

She said she doesn't like to shop because its overcrowded and uncomfortable. So instead she chooses to share stuff in orphanages.
She did NOT say you should not shop for yourself. She did NOT say people should not go to the market. She did NOT demean sellers or anybody else. She did NOT put anyone down for not going to orphanages either. She only urged them to do so.
She simply shared her view and what she does during this festival. Yeah she does not shop now but perhaps she does during other ones.

@anu023
thank you for explaining the reason for getting offended. But this reason additi deserve this much backlash and bashing ?
Fosh market is aterm which we use for any place where people make too much noise which may irritate you mind. almost every teacher ask students whether they are in a school or in fish market when they make noise.do you get offend there?
and well, you think that celebrating a festival or birthday in an orphanage is a publicity stunt. you believe in donating than taking stuffs there. You think that people in orphange feel insulted when someone take gifts for them. you think that ONLY your POV is correct?
everyone who spend festival and birthday is only for publicity? everyone in orphanages hates gifts? they feel insulted when someone give gifts to them ? seriously? All i can say, please be mature.just becz you think like that doesnt make the things are like that. just because someone have a different pov doesnt make them wrong. and guess what? you completely missed the part where she asked to spend time with people who needed.. "to buy a gift for them and try to light up the festive day and enjoy sweets and snacks with them"
you were talking big things and advising others to stop idiolising celebs and all. but before that you should calm down. before lashing out a person on the basis of your interpretation, please remember that celeb is not a fictional characetr she is a human, may be she is mis quotes, may be she meant something else, may be you are interpreting in a different way. Because even if she is wrong , additi dont deserve the degree of bashing she got, never deserve to call as a real life vamp. you didnt call her, but i can see you liked the comment. so please be mature.
ps: i'm not asking you, i'm just requesting you.. dont come back with reply like "dont tell me what i should do and not to do stupid fangirl "

Good to know Additi's views on Diwali. To be honest when i was younger i enjoyed Diwali like a true festivity...it used to be about new clothes...lightings ...crackers and choclates but from the past few years i havent truely enjoyed the festival of Diwali coz the extra workload during these festive seasons is tiring. And all market places are so damn overcrowded that its actually a nerve wrecking experience for both buyers as well as sellers. It is extremely difficult to purchase even a simple item ...with ppl constantly pushing you and speaking in high pitched voices...urghhh.I honestly even get tired due to no. of guests visiting us ...ppl should only call and wish in my opinion...Lolz. I am so Not a festive person and i am often rebuked by my mother for this who is extremely social on the contrary.Happy Choti Diwali Additi!
