"I am an extrimist by attitude"- Ravi Dubey

Tell us about your story of getting into acting?
I started in the year 2005. Then I was into modeling then and stuffs after which I started working in Ads and TV serials. It was totally my choice and nobody ever told me to get into acting.

What are the works done so far?
I have done 40 commercial ads and a few shows like Ranbir Rano,Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, 12/24 Karol Bagh and currently doing Saas Bina Sasuraal.

Tell us about your character in your recent show Saas Bina Sasuraal?
Tej is very real and a righteous person. He very well knows about his responsibilities that he needs to perform and keeps a balance between his family and wife very nicely.

At which point in your life have you struggled the most?
To be very honest I have never struggled in my life. I have done a lot of hard work and strived very hard, but honestly never really struggled in life.

Tell us something about your nature?
I am an extremist by attitude and I am a very positive person. I don't indulge in things that I know will harm me and I like to maintain a low profile and I love making friends.

Where do you see yourself in five years from today?
Like any other actor, even I want to be at the top. I would want to do good work for which people appreciate me and love me.

Party animal or a home body?
I can't call myself both because I don't like going to clubs and I don't like staying home either, I love catching up with my friends everyday for a while.

Hobbies?
I love dancing and singing. I am a total  gadget freak and I love video games. I enjoy reading comic books and I am a big time Movie Buff.

Favorite films?
Sea and Side, Rainman, In Pursuit of Happiness.

Favorite film stars?
Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachchan.

Can you cook? Favorite dish?
No, I can't cook, But I love Mexican food a lot and I love moong dal ka halwa.

The best fan experience?
I was in Delhi shooting for 12/24 Karol Bagh and I had gone with my co-actors to a mall. A couple followed me and they said that they loved my work a lot, and they wanted me to meet their son who was an autistic. I met him and he spoke to me which really touched my heart a lot. It is very emotional to see the love people have for me in their heart.

Ideals?
Daisaku Ikeda. He is a philosopher and I love reading his quotes a lot and also Mahatma Gandhi, I really follow some of his preachings.

Your fitness funda?
I run to Inorbit from Madh daily and I drink a lot of water throughout the day. I curb my night food and I eat less at night.

Plans for the future?
I don't really have any plans. I like going with the flow

Any unusual incident
There isn't any particular incident that I know of, but I very clearly remember that when I had replaced the lead of Ranbir Rano, people were not at all happy of that. They did not like me and criticized me a lot because of which I was very upset. People did not accept me the way I wanted them to accept. They said that I am not the Ranbir that they wanted and I can never be on par with the old Ranbir. I used to get very angry about the whole thing. But then I believe in Buddhism and used to do the chanting which helped me get in control. I became more calm and then finally things started falling in place.

Special fetish/habits
I eat at night  a lot especially when I am sitting and watching a movie on TV. I keep munching something or the other to fill my stomach, because out of nowhere at night my stomach feels empty and I need something to fill it.

Rumour you heard about yourself?
When I was shooting for Yaha Ke Hum Sikander, I was linked up with the girl who played my sister. In reality that girl is like my sister as she ties me a Rakhee every year. The day when we both heard about it we couldn't stop laughing. We were just wondering from where media keep bringing up these weird news. There was one time when I was linked with seven girls simultaneously.

Sports you indulge in?
Since my school days I have been bad at sports and I was more into dancing and singing. I always loved performing arts more than all of this. But I like watching cricket, and that too just a few matches, I am not a huge cricket fan either.

What kind of books do you read?
I read a few books. I am a passionate but very impatient reader. In nonfiction, I love reading Archie's comics and in fiction I like reading books by Deepak Chopra. My favorite books are The Monk who sold his Ferrari, The Alchemist, Power of Physics. These books have helped me bring a big change in me for the better.

Any phobias?
I cannot sleep alone at night, as in, I need some light or some sort of noise around so that I can sleep. Many a times I switch on my lights and go off to sleep or I even keep my TV on and go to sleep, so that I feel comfortable that at least something is going on around me.

Most embarrassing moment
My friend and I we were sitting at a restaurant and we were having food and one of my favorite actresses came in and I couldn't stop staring at her. My friend suddenly got up and told the actress that I used to admire her a lot and that she was my favorite. That actress gave me a smile and came to me, ruffled my hair, pulled my cheeks and said so sweet. I felt so shy and embarrassed at that moment, I couldn't understand where to go and hide my face.

What do you watch on TV?
I watch a lot of American TV shows. I love watching Simpsons, Friends, Family Guy, How I met Your Mother and Prison Prison break. And in Hindi, I like watching reality shows. KBC is something I enjoy too much, because watching Mr Bachchan is always a treat to the eyes. When Sach Ka Saamna had started, I remember I never used to miss out on even a single episode, because it was very intriguing to see people say the truth in front of everybody without getting scared. It was very inspiring, because not every person can have the guts to open up the darkest secrets of their life.

Who are your friends in this industry?
I have a lot of friends which includes the full Saas Bina Sasural gang. We guys have so much fun together and are so comfortable with each other. Its fun to spend time with them. But the closest I am is to Akshay Dogra, Arjun Singh and Shaman Jain.
