Having spent more than two decades in this industry, veteran actress Amita Nangia is upset with the way the casting of television shows happening these days.

In conversation with the lady, she disclosed how she is currently focusing on films and is not keen on taking up TV shows due to the casting procedure.

Amita averred, "Having gained experience of working in this industry from 1989, the experienced casting directors know what is my potential but the newcomers call me for auditions. They do not have the faintest idea of what I have done earlier, else they would scan through my work before calling me.

I do not mind auditioning for roles, where I have to experiment. For example, I shot for 'Ek Veer Stree ki Kahaani Jhansi Ki Rani' on Zee TV, where I played a Muslim character but not otherwise. I still go for auditions if I get an offer from a good production house since I cannot help the situation but otherwise, I am avoiding television for this reason."

Hmm...

Speaking about her inclination towards films over TV she stated, "I recently shot for 'Hogaya Dimaagh Ka Dahi', a Bollywood comedy movie directed by Fauzia Arshi and produced by Santosh Bhartiya and I will soon start shooting for another movie, 'Viral'. I might as well take up films as they have their research well. They have directly called me for casting and not auditions so far."
