In a shocking turn of events that took place in 2017, Zaira Wasim accused a co-passenger of molesting her while on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai. The news shocked the entire nation which stirred a storm of mixed emotions of social media. The former Bollywood actress had recorded a live Instagram video of the same. This incident had happened when she was a minor.
After two years of trial, the former actress has finally seen justice as Vikash Sachdeva, who was accused of molesting her had been convicted and sent to a three-year-imprisonment.
Now, Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel has lauded Zaira with a tweet calling her ‘Bharat Ki Beti’.
Rangoli even cheered the 19-year-old who fought against harassment and said that she has a lot of fire in her. She wrote: “Vry proud f Zaira who went through so much hassle to fight the case also the trauma f being subjected to teasing scrutiny & above all prejudices all victims face...bt hats off to her at such a tender age she hs lots f fire in her #Bharatkibeti #NewIndia.”
After three years, the special court for sexual offences against children has convicted Sachdev to three years of jail. “I am holding you guilty for section 354 (Molestation) of Indian Penal Code and Section 8 (sexual assault) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO),” Special Judge AD Deo said in his verdict.
Zaira had also accused the airlines of being ignorant and not helping her after she raised the issue with them.
Whereas, on the other hand, the businessman and his wife insisted that Sachdev was returning from a funeral, and was mentally disturbed and asleep when the incident took place. It was unintentional, his wife had said.
