The reboot of Sony TV's Ladies Special will be going on-air soon, where the original had a stalwart star cast led by veteran Neena Gupta.

One of the promos of the show recently went on-air and it introduces us to Meghna.

What's It About?

In the setting of a middle-class family, a father enters home informing his child that, they cannot afford to give him a cycle right now. This is followed by him telling his wife that it is important to make their son understand the word 'no.' We should only aim and wish for things that are within our reach.

The wife responds to the same that even though, we have lived a difficult and struggled life, our kids don't need to face the same.

Closing the promo with an introduction of the lady as Meghna Nikade, she is seen being offered the fourth seat in Ladies Special local train.

The Impact

The relatability factor is maximum here, where the normal house setting, the local train noise and everything else is pretty much a part of the daily life of maximum residents in Mumbai, specifically.

Actress Girija Oak has been a regular on the commercial ad space, but her acting chops were best witnessed in 'Shor In The City' back then. Coming on TV, she looks vibrant and yet just like a normal working wife elevated by the smile her character exhibits.

The Verdict

Probably an ensemble, the first promo of Ladies Special seems to have retained the essence of the original, and albeit we have seen such ideas being worked on initially, this may just be the breath of fresh air, the viewers need.
