Star Plus currently does have an array of shows going on and while for now, it continues to be a Rajan Shahi fortress where three of his shows (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Yeh Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke, Anupamaa) are ruling not only the charts but the channel too, there are a few exciting shows coming up.
One of them that has been in the news is Shaadi Mubarak that marks the return of actor Rajashree Vaidya Thakur and Manav Gohil in a new avatar as well. The first promo was released and here's what we thought about it-
The promo is without any dialogues and I love such teasers because, at times, actions do speak louder than words. We are introduced to Vaidya Thakur's character, who seems to be a traditional, organized simple woman heading out for work while on the other hand, we see Gohil's character who is goofy, unorganized, seemingly playful but clumsy also heading out for work. The two obviously have nothing in common except one thing - a folder which spells Shaadi Mubarak.
So while everybody can have their own interpretations of this promo, I feel it is a story about two opposite individuals who are seemingly into the business of wedding planning, and while they seem to be working together, the story is about if they will ever be together.
Sound familiar much? Obviously, it is the plot of Band Baaja Baarat. Bittoo and Shruti were also poles apart and worked as wedding planners in their company called - Shaadi Mubarak. I might be wrong in my interpretation and this show may be about something else entirely but if it is what I wrote about, I am unable to understand the idea behind it.
Is the obvious lifting of the plot intentional that much that they even took the same name as the company? If yes, will the makers have a copyright issue? We are unaware.
While that threw me off entirely as a viewer, I was delighted to see Thakur Vaidya back on-screen and she has a great screen presence as always. I was further delighted to see Gohil and the fact he can pull off looking as handsome, young and fit even today where he is in his late 40s is commendable.
