Sab TV's 'Chidiyaghar' has recently undergone an 8-year leap. With the growing popularity of their unique cast, the show will now introduce a new character - Chamgadadh.

Actor Prasad Barve will essay the role of Chamgadadh. In conversation with Prasad, he talks about his latest venture.

Tell us about your character as Chamgadadh.

Chamgadadh is a very funny character. He is a distinct nephew of Gadhaprasad. He is very innocent and obeys every order given to him, but he understands everything in the opposite manner. That itself makes his character funny. His name resembles him and that is exactly what he does. So he doesn't understand anything that is normal for us. Which means if you tell him to get a glass of cold water he will get a glass of hot water. Basically, his life is upside down just like a bat. This makes him really hilarious.

What are the challenges that you faced while preparing for this role?

'Chidiyaghar' is a well-established show with renowned artists and their characters are well connected with the audience. This was my first challenge to get along with these stalwarts. With regards to making the character, Chamgadadh walks backwards and that was my biggest challenge. But I took this challenge and I am really enjoying my character.

Why do you always choose comedy?

It's not that I have not tried other genres. I have done drama and daily soaps too. But I look for a good role. I am also doing experimental theater which doesn't have comedy. But people love me for my comic timing and I think that is my forte.

What is it like working on the set of 'Chidiyaghar'?

Its like shooting for a film. Ashwini Dhir, who is our producer and writer of the show, directed us too for the first few episodes. There are a lot of efforts put in by the actors and the entire team. The comical timing among the artists is really natural.

Given a chance, which character from 'Chidiyaghar' would you like to play?

All the characters are interesting. But I have always loved Gomukh's character who uses punctuation marks in the sentence. So I guess, I would love to be Gomukh if given a chance.

Goodluck Prasad!
