Post playing Ranveer’s sister in ‘Simba’, I was type-cast in Bollywood: Banni Chow Home Delivery's Ulka Gupta

Star Plus show ‘Banni Chow Home Delivery’ is riding high on success. The show secured the second spot in the BARC rating in the first week. The show stars’ actors like Pravisht mishra and Ulka Gupta in lead roles alongside a set of seasoned actors. The show revolves around a passionate and hard-working girl Banni, who believes in doing her job with perfection. Banni’s life changes when she is asked to take care of Yohaan, who is specially-abled. Banni brings a ray of light, love and laughter in Yuvaan’s life.

Actress Ulka Gupta made her grand comeback to the TV space after quite some time. She was seen in Rohit Shetty’s blockbuster movie ‘Simba’ wherein the actress played the character of Ranveer Singh’s rakhi sister. We quizzed the actress and asked if she about doing Bollywood movies post ‘Simba’, Ulka said, “Well, honestly, I was quite happy with my role in the movie and people noticed me. But I was quite type-cast post the project and people started calling me for similar roles that of a hero’s sister which I wasn’t keen on doing. I wanted to take up meatier roles and when ‘Banni…’ came my way, I found it as a very strong and relevant character and thus I grabbed the opportunity”.

Speaking about her work experience with Ranveer Singh, Ulka said, “Ranveer Sir has been a very humble actor. I remember I had the climax scene as my first shot and I was visibly nervous but Ranveer sir told me that I’ll be able to rock it and we managed to give a one take scene, post which Sir complimented me on doing the scene well. I remember, he’d bumped into me while I was working out. He came up to me and helped me in my workout. I also have fond memories of assisting Rohit Shetty on the initial days of the shoot. All and all, it was a very enriching and fulfilling experience”.
