Payal Rohatgi Finally Released On Bail !

As reported by us earlier, actress Payal Rohatgi was arrested by Bundi Police on Monday over her objectionable tweet against the Nehru-Gandhi family on her social media. She requested for an anticipatory bail on 13th of December but the court rejected it. The actress was then sentenced nine days of judicial custody by a local court in Bundi. 

Payal was booked under the IT Act and two provisions of the penal code relating to intentional insult to provoke breach of peace for the objectionable content she posted online against Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and other members of the Nehru family. 

Well, now according to the latest report in ANI, the actress has been released on bail with two sureties of 25000 each. She was formally arrested late on Sunday night in Bundi after the Rajasthan police picked her up from her residence in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning. The Bundi court said the right to freedom of speech under the Indian Constitution is not unlimited, while rejecting the bail application of the actress earlier.

An FIR was registered against Rohatgi on October 10 under the IT Act in the Sadar police station of Bundi, after the state youth Congress general secretary, Charmesh Sharma, gave a written complaint with a clip of the allegedly defamatory post to the Bundi police. Sharma had alleged in his complaint that the video has hateful comments, which are detrimental to the unity and integrity of the country.
