If the launch of SAB TV’s Papad Pol is anything to go by, the show will be a phenomenal success at making people laugh!

As a witness at many of SAB's comedy show launches, I can fairly say that Papad Pol's was definitely a notch higher. If a launch can tickle the ribs of stiff-upper lip members of the press, I'm sure the majority of mass viewers will have a hilarious time watching it!

The organizers had arranged for a unique, semi-electronic, semi-live act to give us a glimpse of the show. Ami Trivedi was sweet as Kokila. However, the salute goes to Swapnil Joshi (who makes a comeback to the fiction arena after more than five years) who presented an endearing enactment of Vinaychand.

The show is based on the fictional characters from stories written by Shahbuddin Rathod, an eminent novelist well known among the intellectuals of the Gujarati community. The producer of the show, the equally witty Vipul Shah from Optymistix, has attempted to bring to life this ugly but cute character of Vinaychand (along with other fictional characters from the book) on the small screen to present us with a comedy show that has 'look into the soul of human beings' as its core message.

The presentation was so side-splitting that the person responsible for stalling the event for more than an hour, N P Singh, COO, Multi screen Media Pvt. Ltd, very boldly sold this statement as an excuse for coming late- 'I was watching the initial episodes of Papad Pol, it was so funny I couldn't leave on time'. And guess what, the attendees bought it! With forgiving showers of laughter too!!

Ami Trivedi was bombarded with questions about her Rapunzel like long hair to which she replied, "Well, many people have compared this to Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But it is Vipul sir's relative who is an inspiration for this. She has long hair, so Vipul sir felt like incorporating it in the show."

Swapnil Joshi very gracefully accepted all the compliments for his wonderful enactment of Vinaychand. However he was quick to share it with other talented members of the fraternity who had helped him. "All these things, the way he laughs, the way he says- 'means ke'- were not mentioned in the novel. The creative team and I sat together, threw in various inputs and made this affable character. It's all kudos to joint effort!"

Start your dose of essential laughter therapy by watching Papad Pol on SAB TV that starts from June 28, 2010, which will be telecasted every Monday to Thursday at 8.00 pm.
