The Mumbai Police has summoned social media influencer Orry, whose real name is Orhan Awatramani, in connection with the Rs 252-crore drugs case, ANI reported. Orry has been asked to appear before the Anti-Narcotics Cell at its Ghatkopar unit at 10 am on Thursday for questioning, the police said.
The case relates to a seizure in March 2024, when authorities recovered 126.14 kg of mephedrone, also known as ‘MD’, from a farm in Sangli district. The seized drugs were valued at around ?252 crore. Following the seizure, Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh was arrested after being deported from Dubai last month. Shaikh reportedly admitted to organising rave parties across India and abroad that involved celebrities.
Investigations by the Mumbai Police have revealed that Shaikh conducted parties in Mumbai and Dubai, which allegedly drew well-known actors, social media influencers, and some politicians. The probe also highlighted Shaikh’s close links to fugitive drug kingpin Salim Dola, a member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
According to the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s remand application submitted to a Mumbai court, several high-profile individuals were allegedly present at these gatherings. The list includes Alishah, the son of Dawood Ibrahim’s late sister Haseena Parkar, actors Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor and her brother Siddharth Kapoor. Other attendees mentioned in police records include film producers Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka, social media influencer Orry, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell continues to question multiple individuals linked to the parties as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have stressed that the summoning of Orry is for questioning in connection with the case, and no formal charges have been announced against him yet.
Authorities are examining the scale of the drug network, the involvement of organised crime figures, and the extent of connections with celebrities and public figures. The inquiry into the Sangli seizure and the subsequent network of parties remains active, with more names likely to emerge as the investigation progresses.
The case has attracted widespread media attention given the high-profile individuals named and the significant value of the seized drugs.
