On Filming Jennifer Aniston - Director Mimi Leder of 'The Morning Show'

That's part of the visual language of the show. I wanted to hold shots longer than normal — like Jen staring in the mirror during the first episode. Normally you'd cut sooner, and they asked me to, but I found her fascinating." - Mimi Leder

Apple TV Plus' megaproject The Morning Show will officially be available for viewing to all beginning tomorrow and the buzz of the show has been immense. Even though the reviews of the series so far haven't been entirely encouraging, it cannot be denied that this Jennifer Aniston-Reese Witherspoon led series might just be the prime attraction for one and all.

The director of the show, Mimi Leder recently opened up on how is it to film Aniston in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Firstly, on whether or not it was challenging to finding the tone while negotiating two different storylines, she said, "It is a drama but also very much a dark comedy. I wanted it to be grounded in reality — never farcical, never a joke, but funny. I wanted it to have several looks. In front of the daytime TV camera, it's sunny, beautiful, bright and flat. When that camera's turned off, I wanted it to be saturated in color and have a lot of shadows and edge."

On the lingering shots, particularly on Aniston's character, she said, "That's part of the visual language of the show. I wanted to hold shots longer than normal — like Jen staring in the mirror during the first episode. Normally you'd cut sooner, and they asked me to, but I found her fascinating."
