Actress Madhurima Tuli is best known for her roles in films like 'Baby' and 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani'. Apart from the films, she was also seen on TV shows like 'Kumkum Bhagya' (co-starring Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia) and 'Dafa 420'. However, she recently became more popular with her participation in the Farhan Akhtar hosted reality show, 'I Can Do That.'

On the eve of Makarsankranti, a widely accepted kite-flying festival, the actress has decided not to fly kites and support a noble cause instead. Due to the kite flying, the thread holding the kite (called manja) gets stuck in the various wires leading to haphazard situations for the various birds. Mahurima has joined hands with an NGO, Swasth, who operates in cleaning up those after effects of the festival and save birds.

Madhurima shares with us, "Last year, when we were flying kites with friends, an incident happened where our manja got stuck in wires leading to the death of several birds. That prompted me to realise that it is so cruel to the innocent birds. Later, I learned about this NGO called Swasth who takes up this into account and goes for cleaning up in order to prevent the untimely hazards for the birds. I decided to collaborate with them and help them in the best way possible."

She added, "We are not going to be deprived of something amazing if we don't fly kites. Plus, the reason to not do it is because it is causing ill-effects for other living beings. So, this is a great cause and I am going to express my support for it."

On being asked if she will herself go to the various places for it, "Absolutely! As actors, we have packed schedules, but I will surely take time out for it. Maybe, I won't be able to go to every place, but will try going to maximum places."

It surely is a noble deed by the actress and we wish her All The Best!

With due respect to MT's sentiments... birds are also killed when aircrafts are flown from one place to the other... so does that mean that we stop flying aircrafts just so that birds aren't put in danger???? pure hypocrisy, when people say they wont fly kites just because birds are injured.

Without bringing up Islam, I do agree w/ AT118. I do see Hindu festivals being targeted - be it a reduced fireworks Diwali (talking about fireworks pollution given all the sewage problems and bad air is a freaking joke), water less holi and now kite less makar sankranti. It's never the intention to target birds, those are ACCIDENTS, and those happen all the time. That's no reason to come out w/ these campaigns against fireworks, spray colors or kites. If they want, change how the strings are made on those kites.

@zeeshan, this at118 is complete hypocrite, he/she lives in own delusional world. First he/she bring religion here. Now, saying he/she don't talk about religion. So, better we don't argue with this intolerant mentally unstable person. @at118, go, consult a doc. You really need a help, feeling bad for people like you.

@Zeeshan- oh really, who is communal??? you people who are religious fanatics are biggest hypocrites and communal people in the world, whole world knows who is communal and fanatic. I or others didn't bring Islam, we tried to highlight hypocrisy of these celebrities, where they try to search various ways to kill our traditions...you felt bad..with mere discussing about Bakrid...but we face it day and night...everyone tries to lecture us how to celebrate our festivals... you should not interfered at all... it was not against Islam still you poked your nose

@at118, you are hypocrite and delusional. In my entire comment I have just written about people bringing Islam into all this when it isn't remotely related here. I never said anything about your religion and your festivals. I was just answering the people who were bringing Islamic festivals in this. Please be happy following your religion and lets us follow ours peacefully. Don't bring Islam whenever your religion is mentioned. Its because of communal people like you, India isn't progressing. Please stop your Hindu - Muslim fights.

Really idiots, where do you get that info she eat chicken. Actually you are the one who is hypocrite here. Here, madhurima don't said anything about religion, you are the one who bring religion here. She just said, she flew kites till last year, they have an incident last year, that changed her mind. She is sharing just her feeling, she is not trying to force anybody here. She joined with a ngo who is clearing the after effects of kite flying. They don't stop anybody from flying kites. BTW, It should be our decision to follow what we want, am vegetarian, I hate killing of animal, its Bakri Eid or Puja doesn't matter. But I love to blast fire crackers, my favourite celebrity said no to fire crackers. But I don't follow his decision. Its our decision, what we do. We don't need to target if someone giving their opinions. Btw, celebrities don't have any agenda, we all know who have agenda. Nobody is targeting Hindu festival, its only on your delusional mind.

@ Zeeshan- every tradition in Hindu religion also has some purpose, don't show your hypocrisy here. a Murder is indeed a murder, a torture is indeed a torture only. Few people can do anything in the name of traditions, and others have to bear this daily drama of celebs because they feel it is cruel?????? Even in Makarsankranti too we distribute khichadi to poor, we enjoy with kites which help many people earn who are in kite making and selling business. It is FAAR more better and human in comparison to kill an innocent animal. I am 100% sure no one will deliberately try to kill an innocent bird while flying kites. I will bring religion unless this hypocrisy stops. Condemn all cruel acts including mass killing of Goats in Bakrid and sacrifice of any other animal for any other festival including Kali pooja in some parts of India. I am not hypocrites like you. These celebs will eat chickens/meat daily and then will do the drama feeling pain of birds.

Lol, I pity the delusion of some people bringing religion into this. I won't comment about Hindu festivals coz I am not aware of them, but Bakri Eid has a purpose, the goats which are sacrificed, are given to the poor, the ones who can't afford food, so that they can eat something. If people are getting food to eat, whats wrong in celebrating Bakri Eid? As it is, people don't question when non veg is served in restaurants, but when someone criticizes Hindu festivals, they jump in and start comparing it with Muslim festivals. As it is Muslims have only 4 festivals, still people can't stop comparing their religion. Muslims. By the way the goats which are sacrificed on Bakri Eid are specifically breeded for the festival, purchased by the people who celebrate, and then their meet is distributed among the poor so that they can eat their food. Stop bringing Islam into every effing thing! Hindus celebrate their festivals once in a year, so it is wrong to restrict them from celebrating their festivals
