Nishant Singh Malkhani opens up on playing his own son in 'Rakshabandhan'

Keeping in sync with the constant and ever-growing trend of having leaps in daily shows, yet another one is all set to practise it soon. Lately though, there has been another trend that has been rather constant where the leading lady ends up playing the grown-up daughter ahead as well.

What has been rare though is a male lead getting this opportunity and it is happening now. We reported about how actor Nishant Malkhani, who plays the current lead in the show, Rakshabandhan - Rasal Apne Bhai Ki Dhal is all set to play his own son where the show is headed for a 15-year leap. Talking about it with ETimes TV, Malkhani said, “After my onscreen wife (Sanchita Banerjee) is killed, I sacrifice my life while saving my children (Shivraaj and Rasal). I will return post the time leap as Umed’s son, the grown-up Shivraaj.”

As one would remember, Malkhani quit Guddan: Tumse Na Ho Payega back then as he didn't want to play father to a grown-up but this time the situation is obviously and entirely different. About it, Malkhani said, “Why should I play a father to a grown-up? Do I even look like one?” asks Nishant, adding, “Television is predominantly a women-centric medium. So, I’m glad to have got an opportunity to play my own son. For male actors, this happens only in films. Fortunately, all the characters I have played so far have been a major part of the story; they’ve been strong and typically heroic, which we don’t get to see otherwise on TV.”

We are sure the fans would love to see Malkhani playing his own son as the leap happens, isn't it?
