Nagraj Manjule: I consider it a success when I can make the film exactly how I want it

Jhund brings to the fore the life of a slum dweller and his struggle to achieve his dream. The protagonist uses his life experience to make a way for himself and his community to break the social barriers, inspiring millions of youths to be passionate about their dreams and making it a reality with dedication and determination. Portraying their roles flawlessly, over a dozen kids and young adults, like Ankush Gedam, Akash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru to name few make the film larger than life. Bollywood megastar, Amitabh Bachchan has nailed the role as Vijay Barse narrating his journey with utmost honesty and superlative acting. 

Helmed by Nagraj Manjule, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Hiremath, Gargee Kulkarni, Meenu Aroraa, and Manjule. The filmmaker got talking to India Forums about working with Akash and Rinku again, and what he makes of a film's box office collection and reviews.

About working with Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru after Sairat, he says,

"Both have matured with their age and now understand the filming process even better. I love the fact that they started their career with my film and again worked with me on another project playing a different role. I hope in the future they will work on even better projects and be successful in their life."

He also spoke on how he feels about box office collection and reviews. He said,

"If critic evaluations and box office collections begin to impact me, my perspective will shift and my morale may fall with each film. When people like my work and my film does well at the box office, it makes me happy. But I believe in filmmaking and I consider it a success when I can make the film exactly how I want it."

Meanwhile, Jhund recently premiered on Zee5 on May 6.
