My mother was sitting with us: Karan Johar Reacts to Drug Party Accusations!

A few weeks back, Karan Johar had hosted a get-together for his B-town friends. The party was attended by Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Natasha Dalal, Vicky Kaushal, Zoya Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji to name a few. 

Following the party, Karan had taken to his official social media handle and shared a video that featured all the celebs talking, listening to music and having the time of their lives.

But their fun-filled night was questioned by MLA - Manjinder S Sirsa. As soon as the video went viral, the MLA alleged the celebrities being in a drugged state. He took to his official Twitter account and tweeted the same. 

He wrote, “#UDTABollywood - Fiction Vs Reality Watch how the high and mighty of Bollywood proudly flaunt their drugged state!! I raise my voice against #DrugAbuse by these stars. RT if you too feel disgusted @shahidkapoor @deepikapadukone @arjunk26 @Varun_dvn @karanjohar @vickykaushal09”

This tweet started a debate amongst the netizens on whether or not the celebrities were under the influence of drugs. None of the celebrities have reacted to the allegations until now. Karan Johar who had hosted the said party, recently in an interview with journalist Rajiv Masand, opened up about the allegations. 

He said, “There were achieving members of the industry who were having an easy night out after a hard week of work, having a good time. I took that video with all the earnestness... would I be putting out that video if there was anything happening at all, I am not stupid.”

Further elaborating on the how the reflection of a light near Vicky Kaushal was misinterpreted as proof, he added, “Apparently you are not allowed to scratch your nose. Apparently, you are not allowed to put your phone in your back pocket. Apparently, a shadow of light is perceived to be some kind of powder.”

The 47-year-old filmmaker also explained that Vicky was actually recovering from dengue and drinking hot water with lemon. “My mother, 5 minutes before this video, was sitting with us. It was that kind of a family, happy, social gathering, where friends were sitting and having a good time and we were listening to some music, having some good food and having good conversational energy there. There was nothing else going on,” he said.
