The musical critics at BollyCurry are back to open their box of melodies only to reveal the tunes of the upcoming romantic thriller Roy. Produced by the infamous Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ajay Kapoor and Freeway Pictures under the direction of the debutante Vikramjit Singh, the movie has managed to stir the audiences with its trailer and music likewise.

As Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor come together for this movie after their last stint in Raajneeti (2010) was largely

appreciated, Jacqueline Fernandes plays the love interest of the duo in a double role of an art enthusiast and a movie director. Scheduled to release on February 13, 2015, the story of the movie has been kept under the wraps apart from the few details here and there, of Kapoor being the renowned mysterious thief named Roy, Rampal being a Casanova-cum-film maker and with Fernandez romancing them both in two totally different avatars.

The album opens up with "Sooraj Dooba Hain" which is a peppy number marking the atmosphere of celebration. In the voices of Arijit Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma, along with the genius lyrics of Kumaar, Amaal Mallik has woven magic as you can feel the zing coming right out of the music and into your body. Despite Sharma getting a mixed response for her intonation, the song makes you tap your feet the moment it gets in touch with your senses. The other version of "Sooraj Dooba Hain" works with Sharma taking over a little of Singh's part. The song remains more or less the same, but rests just a notch lower than the original in appeasing the listener.

Next up on the list is Ankit Tiwari's composition "Tu Hai Ki Nahi". Penned down by Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, both the words and the tune of the song bring to mind a safe and soothing sojourn. Apart from being the composer, Tiwari has not only sung the song in his melodious voice but has managed to make a successful delivery of the love ballad. The intensity of the song only magnifies with every consecutive word and every repeated play. The Unplugged version of the song has Tulsi Kumar crooning to similar lyrics. It is softer and calmer than the original, but fails to stir the emotions like it intended to.

"Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan" comes next, which is an upbeat dance number. With the trio Meet Bros. Anjjan on the composing as well as singing table, along with the "Baby Doll" fame Kanika Kapoor, the song is enveloped in the Punjabi folk flavour. The groovy techno beats make you shake a leg come what may. Despite its resemblance with the previous work of the gang, the song manages to leave quite an impression and is a must listen.

The subsequent song of the album is the dark and intensely passionate "Boond Boond". Another one penned down by Upadhyay, the lyrics are a little explicit for the layman's taste. Ankit Tiwari has again worked as the composer and the singer, but rather than thrilling us, the song acts as a constant reminder of Tiwari's other one - "Katra Katra", which has a similar set up and lyrics too. Regardless of this, once the song lands up on a repetitive playlist, it gets you hooked on.

The last song is redemption for all the flaws in the previous ones. Another of Tiwari's composition, written by Sandeep Nath and in the beautiful voice of K.K., "Yaara Re" manages to set ablaze all the emotions that lay deep down. The haunting, yet soft and powerful tune along with a voice that weaves magic, the song leaves us craving for more with its elegance.

The album has a balanced mix and match of songs, what one lacks the other makes up for it. With a fusion of musical connoisseurs like Mallik, Tiwari and the likes of them, the album leaves an unfathomable impact on the audiences. We at BollyCurry give it a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.
