Music Review: Baby

We at BollyCurry have the pleasure in bringing to you the Music Review of Baby.

With Republic Day around the corner, coming to our theatres on the 23rd of Jaunary is BABY, a movie that revolves around sleeper cells and the Counter Intelligence Unit. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Baby stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role, alongside talented actors like Taapsee Pannu, Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Kay Kay Menon and Danny Denzongpa.

Given the movie's serious theme, Baby's soundtrack only comprises of four songs. The music of the film has been composed by Meet Bros. Anjjan and MM Kreem, and the lyrics have been penned by Manoj Muntashir. We at BollyCurry have the pleasure in bringing to you the Music Review of Baby.

The album opens with the song "Beparwah". Voiced by Apeksha Dandekar, this is a typical Meet Bros. Anjjan composition which gets your foot tapping with the beats. Dandekar's voice brings a sensual appeal to the song and Manoj Muntashir's lyrics create a curiosity about the movie, which seems to be the maker's intention. Overall, the singer and the composers make the song entertaining enough to listen to more than once.

Next up in the album, is "Main Tujhse Pyaar Nahin Karta". It is a slow number, and the lyrics depict the conflict in Kumar's mind regarding his love towards the woman in his life. Papon and Kreem appear to try to recreate the magic of "Kaun Mera" from Special 26 (2013)but the attempt seems to have fallen flat, resulting in a rather dull song. The only saving grace of this song is its poignant lyrics, so give it a listen simply for the mesmerising words.

It is not possible for Meet Bros. Anjjan to compose an entire album, and not have an MBA Swag version for at least one of their songs. They did it with "Hangover", they did it with "Singham Returns Theme", and they've done it again with "Beparwah". This remix of "Beparwah", aptly titled "Beparwah (MBA Swag)", shows the best of Meet Bros. Anjjan's music. Remixed by the popular DJ Khushi, backed with Apeksha Dandekar's vocals, the song makes you want to start dancing right away to the drum beats. This one song will definitely be a hit in the party circuits.

The album comes to a close with the female version of "Main Tujhse Pyaar Nahi Karta", "Main Tujhse Pyaar Nahin Karti". The song has been voiced by popular Telugu singer Ramya Behra. Behra's voice makes the female version a lot more enjoyable than the male version. The music is also softer than the male version, making it much sweeter to the ears. Both the versions have different lyrics in some parts; which makes this song stand out.

Baby's album is average at it's best, but when you consider the fact that this is a movie dealing with a serious issue, music is not the priority here. We at BollyCurry, rate this album 3 out of 5 stars. Till then, check out the songs online at your favorite music website and give it a chance! You might be surprised! And while you are at it, leave a comment here and tell us what you think about the album. We, at BollyCurry, are waiting for your comments!
