Music, painting have power to heal, says Shibani Kashyap

Singer Shibani Kashyap feels music and painting have a common power to heal and rejuvenate one's mind.

Singer Shibani Kashyap feels music and painting have a common power to heal and rejuvenate one's mind.

The "Sajna" singer recently visited artist Sonu Gupta's painting exhibition Strokes of Romanticism here.

She told IANS: "Music and painting go hand in hand as both of them have a power to heal. These are beautiful creative expressions. When I am going through these paintings, as there are so many natural colours and elements on canvas, it just calms my mind down and rejuvenates."

Gupta's paintings are based on nature.

Giving an insight, Gupta said: "Nature and life are intertwined and complement each other. Love gives me energy and the pastures in my paintings bring my dreams of love to life. I travel to myriad places, live where I wish and traverse lands with the one I love through my canvas."

Shibani, who can sketch too, said she has a strong association with painting from her childhood days.

"My mother is a painter. In fact, I have many paintings in my house done by her. I am not as good as my mother, but I try my hand sometimes. Since I am surrounded by artwork and paintings, I can appreciate them," she added.

The singer recently released a single "Zindagi kyun main tujhse milun" -- a track with an anti-terrorism message -- on YouTube.

Emphasizing the healing power of music, the singer said, "I felt the pain of soldier's life and I made the song and dedicated it to them. My heart goes out for our soldiers. I just hope and pray that by listening to my music, victims of terrorism feel healed and people who are doing such devastative acts, calm down and value life."

The painting exhibition Strokes of Romanticism will be open for public till November 13 at Artists' Centre Art Gallery at Kala Ghoda here.
