Munmun Dutta aka Babita of 'Taarak Mehta...' issues an apology of her 'bhangi' comment

Actor Munmun Dutta, who plays the role of Babita in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah invited some unwanted and unexpected trouble for herself recently as she used a word in a derogatory manner where it further is addressed to a community. 

In a YouTube video, Dutta said that she uses lip tint on her cheeks because she wanted to make the video. She added she wants to look good and not like a 'bhangi'.

After several raised their voice against the usage of the term, the actor realised her mistake and hence first deleted the offensive bit of the video.

Following that, she decided to post an apology on all her platforms. Her post read, "This is in reference to a video that I posted yesterday where in one word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent to insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone's feelings."

"Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down. I have utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our Society or nation."

She concluded, "I sincerely would like to apologize to every single person who has been unintentionally hurt by the usage of the word."-
