"Mummy jaisi dikhti hai” is not an Insult, says Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut impressed the audience with her impeccable performance in her recent outing, Panga. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the sports drama highlighted the journey of a kabbadi player and a comeback of a mother after marriage. The beautiful story weaved with emotions and powerful performances by Kangana, Jassie Gill, Neena Gupta, and others in the film, made it a wholesome, worth watching film.

Kangana plays the mother of an 8-year-old in  Panga, for which she put on 10 KGS. Reacting to the society's habit of body shaming and putting down women who have had kids, the actress says that we should we need to undo this attitude and evolve as individuals and as a society. 

She asks people not to use motherhood to mock someone. "You know there was a time when if somebody was dressed in a certain way, people would say, "kya Mummy lag rahi hai!” or “ Do bachcho ki ma lag rahi hai" says Kangana.

“Being a mother is the most coveted job in the world... it’s also the most difficult one…” she adds. 

Kangana has played the role of a mother so beautifully in the film, and Panga is surely an inspiration for all the mothers wanting to make a comeback in their respective fields. Despite the film not making big numbers on the box office, it emerged successfully owing to positive critic reviews and audience reviews.

Kangana believes that "Mummy jaisi dikhti hai” is not an insult as she speaks with examples of some leading Bollywood ladies: “I believe that society leads by example. We also have directors like Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and  actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Neena Gupta who have gone out and carved a path for themselves after motherhood... motherhood for them is not an unconscious decision it's done consciously.”
