Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has worked on various action flicks like Kaante, Kaabil, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shootout at Wadala and now he is back with yet another project titled Mumbai Saga. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, the movie stars actors John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Kajal Aggarwal, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, Samir Soni and Amole Gupte in pivotal roles.
After the sudden decision to quit the movie due to time constraints, Jackie Shroff now has been replaced with Mahesh Manjrekar, as per a recent report from Mumbai Mirror. Known for his extensive work in Bollywood as well as Marathi cinema, Manjrekar is all set to essay the role of a Maharashtrian politician in the movie. The film explores the police, underworld, industrialists and mill-owners nexus in the ’80s.
Talking about the decision to rope in the Dabangg actor, director Sanjay Gupta told Mumbai Mirror, “I was really looking forward to working with Jackie but due to a date mess-up, he had to quit. Mahesh is my go-to person we’ve shared a bond since we first collaborated on Kaante and subsequently worked on several films together. When I explained the situation to him, he told me he was on. We only had to sort the dates as he’s busy acting and directing.”
Mahesh will join the shoot next week and will go on political rallies with 5000 junior artistes. He also has scenes with John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi. “Mahesh is a strong performer and his portrayal always stands out,” says Bhushan Kumar.
In keeping with the narrative that spans several years, Mahesh will be sporting two looks, one as a 55-year-old and another as a 62-65-year-old.
