Mouni Roy brings Gujarati Patola craftsmanship to Cannes 2026 red carpet

Actor Mouni Roy drew attention at the 79th Cannes Film Festival with a series of fashion appearances that balanced contemporary styling with Indian textile influences. The actress attended multiple events during the festival and later became a talking point across entertainment platforms for her wardrobe choices and film announcements.

Mouni first appeared in a structured black mini dress paired with a white halter style collar and an oversized trench coat. She completed the look with sheer stockings and pointed boots, giving the outfit a sharp and modern finish. Fashion pages covering Cannes widely shared visuals from the appearance, with many noting the contrast between her minimal styling and dramatic silhouette.

However, her most discussed appearance came during the Marché du Film event, where she attended the poster and teaser launch of her upcoming Indo American project Bombay Stories. For the occasion, Mouni wore a blue Gujarati Patola inspired outfit designed by Puja Shah of The Patola House.

The fitted gown featured geometric patterns in shades of blue, red, and mustard. A satin train added volume to the overall look, while soft waves and smokey eye makeup completed the styling. According to the actress, the outfit involved nearly 300 hours of embroidery work by artisans.

Sharing photographs from the event, Mouni wrote, “Launched my film poster & teaser today here in Cannes. Big moment for me. (Pictures coming soon) proud to be wearing a dress crafted by Puja Shah and all the artisans who put 300 hours into embroidering this dress. Thank you! For who donot know it’s Gujarati Patola work which btw I think is stunning.”

Her Cannes outing also came shortly after reports around her separation from husband Suraj Nambiar surfaced online. While Mouni did not address her personal life during the festival, discussions around her public appearances continued on social media.
