Our Bollywood beauties are no exception. The entertainment industry has long been ruled by strong female personalities who have redefined the word 'feminism' with their accomplishments. To recognize the current generation of women who are carrying this mantle with dignity, BollyCurry presents "The Most Powerful Women in Showbiz Today":

Priyanka Chopra:
This former Miss World has established herself as one of the most talented leading ladies of Bollywood by taking on a number of versatile roles. Having shot to fame after winning the beauty pageant title in 2000, Priyanka started her career in films. The Hero: Love Story of a Spy served as her debut, and she followed it up with the sizzling hit Andaaz which pitted her against fellow pageant winner Lara Dutta. The Filmfare Best Villain Award, which she won for her role in Aitraaz, proved that Priyanka is capable of doing just about anything that comes her way. She wins fans and accolades in every genre she tries her hand at, be it comedy (Dostana), fantasy (Drona, Krrish) or drama (Fashion for which she bagged both the National and Filmfare awards).
 
Katrina Kaif:
Eastern Eye named her the "Hottest Woman in the World" for the past three years in a row. This British Indian beauty, popularly known as India's Barbie doll, is one of the most in-demand actresses in B-town today. With a nearly flop-free track record, a filmography that is surprisingly extensive considering her relatively recent entry into films, and a well-received performance in Raajneeti, she has gained attention from audiences and industry folks alike. Most recently, she made waves and stole hearts with the chart-buster "Sheila Ki Jawani" from the film Tees Maar Khan.

Kareena Kapoor:
The heiress of the a famous film dynasty, Ms. Kapoor is no stranger to the limelight. Over the years, Bebo has proven herself as both a bankable name and a talented actress. She disproved critics who had dismissed her after an early-career slump  when she took on the super-hit rom-com Jab We Met. Her character "Geet" earned her more than just fans - many female viewers came to see her as a role model. She then bagged a prized part in box office record-breaker 3 Idiots. More recently she was chosen as brand ambassador for Globus and endorsed her own clothing line.
 
Ekta Kapoor:
When one begins to discuss Indian television dramas, the first name that comes to mind is that of Ekta Kapoor. The Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms, she almost single handedly brought about a pop culture revolution with her blockbuster serials like Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kausauti Zindagi Ki, Kkavyanjali and numerous other dramas. She has also forayed into film production with ventures like Kyunki Main Jooth Nahin Bolta, Krishna Cottage and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. Currently she's producing a prestigious film called Ragini MMS.
 
Farah Khan:
Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan is one of the most recognizable behind-the-camera personalities in showbiz. She choreographed dances for over 80 Hindi films and made her directorial debut with Main Hoon Na in 2004. Her next film Om Shanti Om became one of Bollywood's highest-grossing titles and has earned a unique position in film history for a number of reasons. She once again proved herself as a choreographer par excellence with the item song "Sheila Ki Jawani" (jointly with input from choreographer Geeta) from her own film, Tees Maar Khan. Her buddy list is comprised of the biggest bigwigs in B-town, and her high-flying turn as a director has only just begun.
 
Gauri Khan:
Gauri, the begum of Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan, is well known for producing many of her husband's recent hits such as Main Hoon Na, Billu, and Paheli. She co-founded the production company "Red Chillies Entertainment" along with Shah Rukh in 2002. She mostly remains backstage but she has established her capability by identifying several great hits for the company.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:
Often dubbed the most beautiful woman in the world by the international media, Aishwarya is seems to have become Bollywood's ambassador across the globe. After winning the Miss World title in 1994, she started her film career. She acted in several movies and won the Filmfare Best Actress award twice for Hum Dil De Chuke Hain Sanam and Devdas (both of which were directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali). After a brief slump between 2003-2005, she was back in action with the blockbuster Dhoom 2. She followed this up with well-received roles in films like Guru, Jodhaa Akbar, etc. Despite the recent onset of another box office slump, she still remains as one of the most recognizable faces in the world and is regarded as one of the best actresses in Bollywood. In 2010, she made her second appearance in Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" list.
