More Streamers Including Apple, Amazon & Others To Lower Online Video Quality
Across the board, media and technology giants are temporarily throttling their online streaming services in Europe to avoid congestion or breakdown in service as more people are forced to stay at home.

The condition in Italy is no secret to anyone and just like her, other countries in Europe are currently struggling with the constant and unmeasured rise of coronavirus outbreak. While there are thousands and thousands getting affected, the currently safe families have self-isolated themselves into their houses.
This has resulted in an obvious and huge surge in streaming demands across multiple platforms. While streamers like Netflix, Disney+ and others already lowered their online video quality to prevent disruption of service, other platforms like Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, and Apple have joined them in doing the same.
Across the board, media and technology giants are temporarily throttling their online streaming services in Europe to avoid congestion or breakdown in service as more people are forced to stay at home.
"To help alleviate any potential network congestion, we will temporarily reduce bit rates for videos on Facebook and Instagram in Europe," Facebook, which has more than 300 million daily users, said in a statement. "We are committed to working with our partners to manage any bandwidth constraints during this period of heavy demand, while also ensuring people are able to remain connected using Facebook apps and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
