All the conjecture surrounding the apparent exit of actor Mohit Malik from Star Plus' Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala can now be put to rest. Over time, there have been constant rumors about Malik quitting the show but he has been denying it constantly. However, it is now confirmed that Malik is indeed quitting the Star Plus show.
Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala is all set to take a time leap which will see the girls growing up to become adults and now, Malik has made up his mind to quit the show. In an interview with Bombay Times, Malik said, “It has been an emotional journey for me. I started working on the show exactly two years ago and it’s time now to say goodbye. As they say, all good things come to an end. The show explored the father-daughter bond beautifully and I guess the makers felt a leap was necessary. I liked the fact that they focused on the father-daughter bond and did not try to introduce a romantic angle for my character Sikandar (Mohit Malik) after Nimrat (Shruti Sharma) died in the show. Though he married Loveleen, the show only revolved around Sikandar and his two daughters.”
On the reason for quitting the show, Malik said, "I was fine with playing father to two small girls in the show. But I do not want to play a father to grown-up girls because I don’t think it will look convincing.” Malik's character is suffering from a brain tumor in the show and soon he will be shown to be dead. He is still shooting currently and he said how the feeling of not being able to shoot with his on-screen daughters (Aakriti Sharma and Myra Singh) is yet to sink in. He concluded saying that he plans to take a short break and then get back to work, where he is willing to do different roles.
