Heritage and Style of India, an exhibition to be held here March 21-22, will showcase how ubiquitous Indian techniques can be used to create alluring and appetising style and fashion.

It is a platform that aims to give a 'style application' to the endangered and unique arts and crafts of India.

Sally Holkar of WomenWeave, Geeta Khanna of Hirumchi Stylish Company and Bindu and Rana Kapoor of YES Bank have come together for the exhibit, where saris, scarves and yardages created using techniques indigenous to the regions of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan will be available.

The event believes in creative adaptation of handloom and crafts of India in modern living.

"There is much that can be done in backward integration of 'style' to culture and certainly it seems like a great way forward to produce fresh fashion," Khanna, founder of Hirumchi Styling Company, said in a statement.

The products are a produce of Holkar's WomenWeave that works towards the emancipation of the deprived and the unsupported.

Holkar, who comes from the Indore Royal family and who has been a catalyst between fashion and weaving since almost 30 years, has worked with Muzaffar Ali, Rohit Bal, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and several international designers as well to innovate with Indian weavers to produce style statements.
