If you thought that the Minions movie was just going to be a one-off film and that we may not get another standalone Minions films, well you were wrong.
The first look of Minions: The Rise of Gru debuted at the Superbowl and as known that the film actually has a complex continuity with this upcoming film taking place three installments before the Despicable Me series but after Minions the movie.
Kyle Balda, who co-directed both Minions and Despicable Me with Pierre Coffin, takes the lead on directing the latest installment alongside Brad Ableson, with Brian Lynch returning to write. Although Coffin has stepped down from directorial duties, his presence continues to be felt as he returns as the voice of the collective Minions.
Coffin’s won’t be the only familiar voice in the movie, as Steve Carell returns to voice a nascent Felonious Gru. Other actors lending their vocal talents to the movie including Russell Brand, Kevin Hart, Margot Robbie and Dave Bautista.
Minions: The Rise of Gru is set to be released July 3.
