Actor, director and writer Varun Badola is winning hearts with his performance as the grumpy Dad, Amber Sharma, in Sony Entertainment Television’s show Mere Dad ki Dulhan. The show based on a new age concept of older romance will soon be entering a beautiful twist which is less likely to be seen on Indian television.
According to the current track, Niya (Anjali Tatrari), realizes that she cannot take the place of a companion in her father’s life, after a heart-to-heart conversation with Guneet (Shweta Tiwari). This conversation makes Niya visualize what kind of partner would suit Amber. Her imagination runs wild thinking of Amber doing a romantic dance with a partner and even playing a sport. How should Amber’s partner be? What qualities should she have?
Being a method actor, Varun actually took salsa lessons for this dream sequence and Varun was kind enough to share his experience, “Frankly, I never thought I would ever do a dancing sequence on my show. Given my character, who is a little grumpy and stubborn, learning Salsa while being in Amber’s character and aloof was challenging, but a fresh new experience. I had never imagined this (laughs). But it was fun to learn salsa for the show and I look forward to such fun experiences. There was a trainer invited on the set to guide me with the moves and steps. While I was a little rusty on my dance moves and my body was a little stuff, I perfected the steps for the sequence after practicing for nearly 7 to 8 hours.”
