Meet Naresh Punia and Vicky Singh - the guards G5 and G7 of ‘Lock Upp’

‘Lock Upp’ has ended a while ago but the show continues to raise eyebrows. The success party of the show was a grand affair wherein the who’s who of the industry was seen. Munawar Faruqui lifted the trophy of the show followed by Payal Rohatgi and Anjali Arora.

While all the contestants in the show, host Kangana Ranaut and Jailor Karan Kundrra got many praises for making the show a success, there are a lot many people who deserve the credit of the success. The concept of the show was quite unique and required a different kind of set-up. Around 4-5 guards were placed inside the house for almost the entire day to give it a proper feel of a lock-up. The guards were supposed to wear a certain kind of attire and keep their faces hidden with masks to increase the intrigue. The show being streamed LIVE added to more difficulties for the people who played the guards in the show.

While the guards were seen covering the face, India Forums would like to reveal the identities of the artists who played guards in the show. Amir Khan played G6 in the show while Vicky Singh played the popular G7 in the show. The contestants shared a good rapport with G7 and they would often tease him. The right-hand of jailor Karan Kundrra was played by actor Naresh Punia. Punia played G5 in the show.

In the view of acknowledging these artists, we got in touch with G7 played by Vicky Singh and asked him about his thoughts on being a part of the show. Singh said, “Initially, we had an exhausting training for the show. We were asked to contain our postures for long hours and not move any part of our body, but once the shoot started, it was a lot of fun. Our coordinator was quite strict. We would get updates on our walky-talky if we lose our posture, he would ask us to straighten ourselves and maintain the posture. For around 5-7 hours, we were asked to stand. Jailor Karan still had the liberty to move, but we couldn’t do that. While it was quite difficult, it was also a lot of fun. Munawar jee and Shivam jee always acknowledged us and appreciated us. At times, Munawar would crack funny jokes leaving us smiling. I would try hard to suppress my laughter but he would see it in my eyes that I’m laughing from inside. Azma jee used to flirt with me. If I had the authority, I would’ve removed my mask and showed her my face as well (laughs)”.

Naresh Punia was the head of the guards and had long dialogues to say. We asked him if he followed the script or had to improvise, Punia said, “In reality shows, one can’t go ahead with scripts as how the other person will react is not known. I would learn the basic words and details of the task and would go inside the house and perform accordingly. It was a difficult show to pull-off but when you’re passionate about the work you do, you sail through the difficulties and emerge successful- that’s exactly what happened with me in the show. It has been a fulfilling experience”.
