Manisha Koirala on being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer: I gradually made peace with fear and death!

Bollywood celebrities have gone head-on with their problems and they have tackled all the issues with much grace and power. Right from fighting the relentless battle with ovarian cancer, Maisha Koirala has gone through a lot of hardships concerning her health.

During a recent interaction with Spotboye, the Dil Se actress talked about the same. She narrated an episode from her life which clearly traces her life struggles battling the poor medical condition. 

She spilled the beans right from the moment she was detected with last-stage ovarian cancer to being declared cancer-free. Sketching the saga of her life she composed a memoir which is titled - Healed: How Cancer Gave Me A New Life and it is an emotional roller coaster about her various struggles.

In a conversation with author-journalist Sathya Saran, she said

There was a time I would ask the doctors to give me a guarantee of how much time I have, but gradually, I made peace with fear and death. That’s what taught me to make the most of all I have, and it has now become an extension of my personality.

Back in 2012, Koirala was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and with depleting health, her whole life was in splits. As the wicked hands clutched her marriage and no place to turn back she also saw the downfall of her career and later she discovered she had cancer. “I thought I had not lived my life fully; everything seemed left out,” she added.  

She also mentioned a phase in her life when doctors declared her cancer-free and she had to come back to Mumbai bald, without eyebrows and eyelashes. “Later, I discovered that not everyone is cruel or mean. People accepted and appreciated my journey, and that gave me strength,” she said. 

Koirala has bloomed after experiencing the major setback in her life and it seems as if she has been blessed with a new life that needs to be cherished. The 49-year-old actress has denied feeling sorry for herself and while she enjoys the second chance she has plunged herself to focus on the important parts of her life. She stood up to her feet and was last seen in Prassthanam which also stars Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt.
