Maharashtra Village Names Locality after Irrfan Khan’s Name as a Loving Tribute

Irrfan Khan’s unfortunate demise has shattered all his family, friends and fans. An actor par excellence was also known for his humble and down to earth personality, which made him a people’s person. After battling with the neuroendocrine tumour for two long years, Irrfan breathed his last on April 29, Wednesday. 

However, Irrfan will continue to live in the memories of the people through his good deeds. As a form of tribute, the villagers in Igatpuri village in Maharashtra have decided to name a locality after his name.

"We are going to formally name it Hero-chi-Wadi," Gorakh Bodke, who is a member of the Zilla Parishad in Igatpuri, told India Today.  Hero-chi-Wadi in Marathi means neighbourhood of a hero.

Irrfan was the support system of the residents of the Igatpuri village and left no stone unturned in helping the several students who belonged to underprivileged families there. The actor was closely associated with the village and its people and would often come to the rescue of the needy.

According to reports, it began when Irrfan bought a plot of land in the village and later started interacting with the villagers who lived nearby. He then realized how deprived the village was started helping them in every possible way.

Reportedly, the actor would donate books, raincoats, sweaters and other essential items to the tribal children who lived and studied in the area. Besides, Irrfan would also celebrate festivals with these families and considered them his own.

Gorakh Bodke, the member of the Zilla Parishad in Igatpuri also revealed that once the villagers requested Irrfan for an ambulance for emergency services and the actor donated one in a blink of an eye.

Well, it’s true how they say that a person’s good deeds are remembered even after the person dies. And, that’s the case with Irrfan Khan, who is still so fondly remembered by the villagers, who have decided to pay tribute to him in such a sweet way.
