'Love Story 2050' music is good, but not extraordinary (Music Review)

The movie might be set a good 42 years in the future, but the music of 'Love Story 2050', the launch pad of producer-director Harry Baweja's son Harman, fails to make an impact.

'Aa gaya hun mein' kick starts the album but doesn't live up to the hype created by Harman's dancing skills. The track sung by KK is a jumpy dance number, though the music is a little bland and could have been more energetic.

'Jaane kaisi hai teri meri yeh love story' (Happy Version) follows to give some respite. The track is melodic and romantic. Shaan's vocals are at its best, while Javed Akhtar's lyrics too strike a chord. It's a sweet memorable track that will definitely leave a smile on the face of listeners. The sad version is slow and the violin creates the necessary impact.

'Lover boy' is definitely to be given a miss. The lyrics are weird and that too coming from Javed Akhtar. Alisha Chinai's rendition makes one wonder if it is the same woman who gave a hit like 'Kajra re'. The entire concept of the song is funny and can be skipped.

'Mausam yeh badla hai kyun' sung by Shaan and Alka Yagnik may not be one of the songs, but it brings with it a peppy feel. Lyrics are as romantic and innovative as they can get. Though there have been similar numbers in the past, the song still stands out in the album.

'Meelon ka jaise tha faasla' (happy version) has a very interesting start up tune. KK's vocals are good and Yagnik reminds us of her tracks in 'LOC'. But it is an average piece with nothing special to offer. The sad version is shorter and slower.

Another tune that impresses is 'Milo na milo'. With a futuristic appeal to it, it is an enjoyable dance number that is already making waves thanks to Harman's dance moves. Shaan's voice suits Harman well and the music is quite unconventional.

Kunal Ganjawala then sings 'Sach kehna', which is also a romantic song but has nothing extraordinary. The rendition is peppy and youthful, but the entire package is average. It encompasses a bit of hip-hop as well as a bit of electric guitar, but none of the improvisations are unique.

Anu Malik hasn't really done wonders with 'Love Story 2050'. It ends up as an average album, though the movie holds a lot of expectations.
