For the unversed, KK lost his life on May 31st suffering from a heart attack. At a concert held by Gurudas College at Nazrul Mancha in south Kolkata, KK gave an almost hour-long performance. When he arrived at his hotel, according to officials, he was "feeling heavy" and soon passed out. He was transferred to a nearby private hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.

When KK was in Class 6, he claimed to have first encountered Jyothy. Before he had began his profession, they later dated for many years before getting married in 1991. Together, they have two kids: Nakul and Taamara, who recently recreated the song Yaaron by their late father KK.

'Chhod Aye Hum' from the movie Maachis was KK's debut Bollywood song, but Tadap Tadap, which he released in 1999, is the tune that made him famous. He has performed songs in Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
