KK's last rites to take place at 1 p.m. in Mumbai, wife Jyothy Krishna announces

Singer KK's 'antim-darshan' will take place in Mumbai as the late singer's family announced in an official post.

The tragic loss of legendary singer KK left all of his fans, friends, and especially his family members sad and crushed.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, who left for a heavenly abode on Tuesday night at the age of 53, hours after performing at an event in Kolkata, left a huge void in the music business. Later, he was sent to the CMRI hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The family revealed on Instagram that playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, well known by his stage as KK, will be laid to rest on Thursday in Mumbai.

Taking to her Instagram stories, KK's wife Jyothy Krishna shared a post wherein it was written, "You will be loved forever and fondly missed" and that his 'antim darshan' will take place today between 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and his cremation will happen in Versova Hindu Cemetery. It was reported that the funeral processes and final rite ceremonies will take place at 1 p.m. at the Versova Hindu cemetery in Andheri.

According to authorities at Mumbai Airport, the singer's mortal remains were transported to Mumbai on an Air India flight that arrived at 8.35 p.m.

The West Bengal administration had paid final respects to KK earlier in the day with a cannon salute to his mortal remains.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who supervised the proceedings, paid floral tributes to the late singer, whose body was kept at Rabindra Sadan for some time.

Banerjee was seen consoling KK's wife and other family members who were present at the venue.
