Khandani Shafakhana Review: Sonakshi Sinha shines in this socially relevant Sex-Com!

The film proves to be of great entertainment value for people who love a heavy touch of humor...

Khandani Shafakhana

Khandani Shafakhana narrates the tale of a sex clinic that has been inherited by Babita (Sonkashi Sinha) after her mamaji's sudden death. She has to continue working there in order to inherit the property.

The film has tried to talk-up on the perception of sex in the mediocre, narrow-minded society that is too afraid to come out of it's own shell. Over the years we have tried to pass through life by ignoring the issues of sexual dysfunction.

Sonakshi Sinha

For starters, the film has really good songs to it. The soulful songs tend to calm you as Sonakshi manages to go ahead with the conflicts in her life.

Directed by Shilpi Dasgupta’s, Khandaani Shafakhana somehow seems to be loosely tied as the director seems to have tried her best to bring out this piece with heavy humour.

When you cast Varun Sharma, the film is bound to be a roller-coaster of laughs and emotions. It might be weird but, we are back to square one when we have had films like Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Savadhan. The makers could have left it to actors like Aayushman Khurrana.

Sonakshi Sinha

Currently, Sonakshi has proved to be in awe of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. It seems like the actress is trying to walk the same path as the Khans' and apply (steal) their formula for achieving success at the box-office. But, let's not forget that changing times call for a change in  the formula's for success as well.

Talking about performances in the film Sonakshi Sinha and Badshah have been average throughout they might impress you. Although, Varun Sharma has created a niche for himself in genre of comic roles which has evolved to be his forte.

The film has been carved with a view to extending the story-line along with a sex clinic as Babita has been emotionally attached to the memories of her Mamaji. The plot moves along with a book that has been a MacGuffin (An object or a device that helps the storyline move ahead). The writer Gautam Mehra has carefully picked it up as a plot device but has justified it with too many loose ends.

Varun Sharma

If you tend to look forward to something in the film, that would be the unstoppable humour and the cinematography which adds up a beautiful touch to the frame. The transitions of the film are quite interesting as the connectivity of the sequences goes accurately.

In conclusion, the film caters a set of audience that might love to watch a heavy dose of humour along with the depiction of social awareness. But, if you wish to watch a film with sensible humour this might not be a perfect flick for you!
