Shefali and Parag

Shefali Jariwala and husband Parag Tyagi have always managed to make quite some news for their love story, the duo's expression of love for each other, among other things. The duo met at a common friend's party and while Parag fell in love with her instantly, it was after a few dates that she reciprocated her feeling, and eventually, the duo got married back in August 2014.

Shefali spoke to India Forums about what goes into keeping romance alive after all this time, her ideal Valentine's Date, and some more.

What goes into keeping the romance alive after all this time of being together?

Keeping the flame burning in relationships is important. But it’s not the big things, rather the small things in life that keeps the romance alive. Things like sharing household tasks , doing fun things together like playing a sport together on a regular basis , talking to each other about everything keeps us going. The most important thing is that we support each other’s self growth. From everything like loosing weight to preparing for a role, we help and support each other. I guess that’s what keeps the romance alive and our relationship healthy & strong.

Over the years, how has the definition of love changed for you?

There has been a shift, from spending hours deciding what dress to wear on a date to ditching date nights completely and still being happy. From intense passionate early honeymooners love, now it has become a more mature compassionate love. It may not be as intense but it is beautiful. Parag & I are currently in this extended comfort zone, and I would not like to trade it for anything in life. And the more life we experience together, the deeper our bond grows, and the more comfort and secure we feel. Our love has moved from the higher arousal emotions of interest, amusement, and joy into the calmer positive emotions of serenity, gratitude, inspiration, and awe.

For you, what's the definition of a perfect V'day date?

Date nights have to be taken seriously, even more since we have been together for a decade. A perfect V-day date would be something that keeps the intimacy and romance along with being fun. Something like star gazing while being inside a pool or going for a drive in movie!

Quite the adorable couple, aren't they!
