Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela’s Romantic Drama to Clash with Ayushmann-Rashmika’s Thama on Diwali 2025

Kartik Aaryan delighted his fans by announcing his next romantic drama film with Sreeleela. The film, directed by Anurag Basu, is set to release on Diwali 2025. This time, fans will have two big films to choose from, as Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror-comedy Thama with Rashmika Mandanna is also releasing on the same day.

On February 15, Kartik shared the first look of his film. The poster shows him in a rugged look with a beard and messy long hair, playing the role of a heartbroken singer. In the clip, he is seen performing Tu Meri Zindagi Hai in front of a huge crowd. His chemistry with Sreeleela is also highlighted in some intense romantic scenes.

The film’s music will be composed by Pritam, adding a soulful touch. Sharing the update, Kartik simply wrote that the film will hit theatres on Diwali 2025.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thama is another highly-anticipated film for the festive season. This horror-comedy is part of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror Universe. The film was announced last October with the tagline, “Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe needed a love story… unfortunately, it’s a bloody one.” The film is directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar and stars Ayushmann, Rashmika, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It is written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara. The producers are Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.

Ayushmann will return to the big screen after two years, as his last release was Dream Girl 2 in 2023. Kartik’s previous film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, also had a Diwali release in 2024. Since both films belong to different genres, it will be interesting to see which one wins at the box office. While Kartik’s film offers a musical romance, Ayushmann’s Thama brings a horror-comedy twist. Fans are eagerly waiting for this big box-office clash.
