Karishma Sawant of YRKKH: There must have been a time where stereotypes existed but things have evolved

Karishma Sawant aka Arohi from producer Rajan Shahi's show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has managed to step into her role quite effortlessly. While she has been a part of showbiz for a while now, this show marks her debut as a lead and well, she seems to be doing well so far. India Forums got in touch with her where she spoke about her bond with co-stars and also, about the subject of stereotypes around female characters. Read some excerpts from the conversation here.

About the bond she says, ''The bond has evolved because of these scenes that have been happening, especially the sibling scenes. I have always said that it feels like I have these many siblings in real life and not just in reel life . and offscreen we are all bonding like siblings, Me, Mayank, Sharan and Pranali. So it's beautiful and so much fun performing the scenes because we already feel like a family. Everyone is so supportive and we are all a real team.''

We also asked her about the subject of stereotypes that exist in television. To that, she tells us, ''I think there must have been a time where the stereotypes existed but with time things have evolved, and Tv has evolved, and there are so many Viewers for Television, in fact, the entire industry. So I think, in my career till now, I haven't found any female subject stereotype.''
