One of the biggest fashion festivals of the year, Lakme Fashion Week 2019 finished yesterday, and boy what an event it was! From the day it commenced with Manish Malhotra designed extravaganza, culminated by the effervescent Katrina Kaif to Gauri And Nainika's edgy long black dress worn by the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor, it was one fab Bollywood star studded fashion week.
Let's roll down and see the celebrities and their show stopping garments that made it an event to remember……
Ananya Panday turned a showstopper not once but twice. First time she donned a light gold Anushree Reddy designed lehenga, oozing with intricate embroidery, finished with triangular scalloped hem. Second time was a pretty peach ensemble, confluenceing a cinched choli and bold flower embroidered lehenga by Arpita Mehta.
Bringing to the forefront some monochrome striped game was Athiya Shetty for ace designer Abraham Thakore. The black-and-white streak did not end with the six yards of elegance, it got carried forward to the accessories in the form of those extra long earrings.
Complimenting her natural delicate appeal was Diana Penty in a lovely lilac colour lehenga ensemble comprising of an embellished choli and a lehenga that did not compromise on embroidery and embellishment. Her outfit was accessorized with emerald stone jewellery. Diana walked for Ridhi Mehra.
Making a comeback to the ramp after five years was Geneila Dsouza, Courtesy fashion designer Saroj Jalan. Geneila brought tons of edgy yet traditional theatrics with a voluminous ankle length lehenga, matching choli and a blazer. All this accessorized with silver oxidised jewellery.
Malaika Arora’s showstopper dress by designer Diyarajvvir meant maximum cuts and frills. A garment that did full justice to the bombshell Malaika is, it comprised of a thigh high slit skirt and a choli plunging all the way down to a strap.
With a sexy choli tied up front and intricate silver embroidery against a passionate purple colour, Pooja Hegde grabbed all the eye balls as she walked the ramp for Jayanti Reddy.
Lehenga length just went a wee bit short and choli a lot contemporary for the showstopper Shilpa Shetty at Punit Balana’s runway for Lakme Fashion Week.
A showstopper look fit for the blue-blooded lady with modern sensibilities that Soha Ali Khan so is. Her garment designed by Kavita Agarwal was gleaming with subtle golden glow and classic bird motif embroidery.
With black well fitted dress over a flared sleeve shirt, Tara Sutaria’s showstopper outfit by Ritu Kumar label resonated equestrian mood. This outfit was high on structure as well as appeal, a combination quite rare!
Suggesting simplistic glamour was Neha Sharma’s pastel lehenga choli, finely dazzling with delicate floral embroidery and exquisite jewellery. Neha walked for designer label Kraft Corridor.
Disha Patil designed outfit for Kangana Ranaut, meant a bewitching fusion of traditional lehenga silhouette with thread work geometry and draped choli. Her hair was done to compliment the modern taste of this garment.
Dressed in a beautifully crafted black lehenga and frilly sleeved choli, Katrina Kaif played the perfect muse to tinsel town's most loved couturier Manish Malhotra. She left the onlookers stunned as she gracefully strutted the ramp.
Last and final, the show stopper of all showstoppers, Kareena Kapoor rolled down the curtains at Lakme Fashion Week 2019, with a bewitching sashay of draped satin fabric as a long gown, further accented with silk tulle trail.
