Kareena Kapoor to look younger using prosthetic makeup for Laal Singh Chaddha!

When it comes to Bollywood actors and their dedication to work on a project there is no looking back for them. From Dimple Kapadia in Finding Fanny, Rishi Kapoor in Kapoor & Sons to Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar in Saand Ki Aankh and Amitabh Bachchan in Gulabo Sitabo, actors have always used prosthetic make-up to ‘look the part right’ in their movies and never once complained about wasting hours in front of the mirror getting ready to entertain their audiences. 

The recent Bollywood star to join the bandwagon is Kareena Kapoor Khan. As per a recent report from Deccan Chronicle the actress will have to use prosthetic make-up and VFX to look younger during the flashback sequences in Laal Singh Chaddha, an official remake of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks.

A film industry source told Deccan Chronicle, “While there will be VFX used to make Kareena look like a 20-year-old, the 39-year-old actress will also be using extensive makeup to look younger in some sequences in the film. Aamir’s character Lal Singh Chaddha narrates the story of his life to a friend over the years, taking the film into multiple flashbacks in a non-linear narrative. So both the central characters Kareena and Aamir will have portions with a younger look, which will require a certain kind of makeup to make the look as authentic as possible.”

In a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, Kareena had opened up about how she had to audition for her role, for the first time in her life, in Laal Singh Chaddha. She had said, “Because knowing the way that he is, I think he wanted to be like 100% sure. So very randomly, out of the blue, I got a call from Aamir. ‘I want you to hear this film, this and that and I am very excited about it.’ So it just happened very organically. 

“I heard the script like just then the minute he called me and he was just like let’s read some scenes. I want you to read some scenes. So I was like yeah, I have never done anything like this. I thought like what the hell. I want to see myself if I want to do this or not and you know there is nothing wrong in that.”

While Pritam has been roped in to compose the music for the film, Atul Kulkarni has written the script which has been adapted from the original screenplay written by Winston Groom. Meanwhile, casting director Mukesh Chhabra has locked in a lot of local artists from Punjab to be a part of the Amritsar schedule of the film. Laal Singh Chaddha is being directed by Advait Chandan for producer Aamir Khan.
