Kareena Kapoor reacts to claims made by Mandhira Kapur Smith in the ongoing Sunjay Kapur estate case

Kareena Kapoor has quietly stepped into the growing dispute around the late Sunjay Kapur’s estate. A short clip from Mandhira Kapur Smith’s appearance on the podcast InControversial with Pooja Chaudhary surfaced online, and Kareena liked the post. Her gesture, though subtle, has added fresh curiosity to an already charged family battle involving questions of inheritance, legacy and intent.

The clip carried a detailed caption about the ongoing fight over the reported ?30,000 crore estate. It highlighted Mandhira’s concerns over the alleged will and the errors she believes no brother would make. The message stressed that this was not gossip but part of a serious legal case involving two children, an ageing mother and a family’s history.

In the video, Mandhira speaks with clear frustration. She says, "If these people think we don't know our own bloodline, think again. Just because you have been with someone for seven years, you cannot erase normal habits that we have grown up with. My brother led the family legacy. He did not create it. And for her to walking around representing our family. Shame on her."

She continues, "None of the bloodline were at the Sona Diwali pooja. I wanna throw up when I see stuff like that. It is our estate. It is our estate and you are asking us to sign an NDA for our own estate. Wow. This is the new India. This is pure robbery. This is what you call major theft. This is what you called major fraud. And this country needs to wake up and see it."

She adds a personal plea from their mother, saying, "My mother tells me before I die, please get everything back home. This is our inheritance. This is my kids' inheritance. It is not Priya's. I will fight this till the end."

The Kapur family’s internal tensions go back years. Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur in 2003, but their marriage soon faced strain. Their split, finalised in 2016, involved long legal proceedings and disagreements over finances and custody. Sunjay later married Priya Sachdev.

His sudden death on 12 June reshaped the family dynamics once again. The estate, now at the heart of multiple claims, has pushed private conflicts into public view, drawing attention from both the industry and the legal world as the battle continues.
