Karan Johar

Karan Johar’s mega-project Takht has once again landed in trouble and it seems the odds are against this dream project. Previously, while several rumors mentioned that the film might be shelved, it has now landed in really big trouble as Fox Star India has decided to back out.

Fox Star India is currently facing a financial crunch after Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak and then Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Panga have both underperformed severely at the box office. Now that Coronavirus has impacted the economy on a global scale, a report from Bollywood Hungama has revealed that Fox Star India had pulled out of its collaboration with Karan Johar for the lavish costume drama Takht.

The report comes after the shoot for upcoming films was put on hold and the crew members went out of work leading to lack of schedules and budget.

The report also quoted a source as it mentioned that this could be the beginning of the end of Karan Johar’s collaboration with Fox Star. Johar and Fox Star have collaborated on several successful and not-so-successful projects during the past 10 years. But now with Fox Star’s CEO Vijay Singh putting in his papers, the studio is re-examining its long-standing association with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions.

Now, a fresh report in Pinkvilla suggests that Karan’s directorial about the Mughal era has not been shelved and will be made. Dharma Productions never approached Fox Star Studios for co-producing Takht. Fox Star Studio is co-producing Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra and our exclusive source revealed that the studio has a very big budget for Ayan Mukerji’s directorial. As per the source, Takht is also in the process of being made and it is not shelved.

For starters, Takht was meant to be the most expensive Dharma-Fox collaboration of all times.

The film stars an alluring ensemble cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor, the film was scheduled to be going on floors sooner rather than later.
