The ongoing custody tension between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian has taken a sharp legal turn. In a cease-and-desist letter issued by West’s lawyer, Kathy Johnson, the rapper has made several serious allegations regarding the care of their children, particularly their eldest daughter, North West.
According to reports, West claimed that Kim Kardashian left 11-year-old North unattended in a car during this year’s Met Gala in New York. The letter accuses Kardashian of neglect and of using their daughter for what West described as “personal or commercial gain.” He alleged that North was brought to the high-profile event and left alone in a vehicle for a significant period. “This type of behavior is not only irresponsible, but a direct violation of our divorce settlement,” West’s legal team reportedly stated in the letter, as per TMZ.
The cease-and-desist also touches on the broader issue of parenting rights. West claimed he has been denied “meaningful access” to all four of their children—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Under their 2022 divorce settlement, the former couple agreed to joint custody. West is also required to pay $200,000 monthly in child support.
Despite this arrangement, West alleged that Kardashian has restricted his interactions with the children. He specifically claimed that he has not seen Saint this year and accused Kardashian of “unreasonably limiting” time with their other children.
Another point raised in the letter revolves around North's presence on social media. West criticised his ex-wife for allowing their daughter to appear on TikTok, saying it exposes the minor to unnecessary public scrutiny. “Stop posting my daughter on TikTok,” the rapper has insisted in previous public remarks, which he echoed in the legal document.
However, one of West’s claims appears to be contradicted by media reports. Photos of the rapper spending time with Saint, Chicago, and Psalm in Japan earlier this year have surfaced online, challenging his assertion that he hasn’t seen Saint in 2025.
Kardashian’s legal team has not issued any public response to the letter as of now. The incident has once again brought the complexities of celebrity co-parenting into the spotlight, especially when children are placed in the middle of public disputes.
