Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika' FAILS to be an EPIC film (2.5/5)

'Manikarnika' LACKS the Cinematic Experience and has too many Flaws.

'Manikarnika' is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai- The Queen of Jhansi. The movie has a very poor screenplay which is the reason it will fail to keep you engaged till the end. The unsettled storyline and poor VFX are the reasons for 'Manikarnika" lacking cinematic experience.

In the whole first half, we see Manikarnika's life before she is the Queen of Jhansi. The film has unnecessary songs and unrealistic action sequences which makes the movie worst and the film turns out to be a typical Bollywood film.

The second half is much better than the first half but yet becomes too lengthy with poor action sequences.

Kangana Ranaut has put up every effort in the film but yet she fails to stand out in this historical drama. It also stars Zeeshan Ayyub, Ankita Lokhande and Danny Denzongpa but no one shines out in this film.

The film is directed by Krish and Kangana Ranaut. An above average direction and some weak dialogues.

Overall the film fails to engage the audience and remains a typical Bollywood movie.

I am going to wholeheartedly disagree with this very biased review. Manikarnika, with it's slightly slow 1st half, did keep me engaged till the end. The second half is really good with some amazing dialogues and action scenes.

I was a bit unsure if Kangana could play the role but she does a fantastic job. The dialogues are very controlled and impactful. The character development is done nicely.

The VFX in some scenes maynot be up to the point but it is nothing that'll hamper enjoying the movie.

And it's a movie about the Queen of Jhansi so it's but obvious that other characters (Who in themselves have a rich story) will not be sharing the same screen-space yet they have done justice to their parts. Their stories and motivation add to the Queen's own journey.

Over all it was a good movie with good performances. The only nitpick that I have (and which is very trivial) is the pace of the 1st half and 1 song.

(This review seems very unprofessional and hurriedly written with only 1 adjective being used- poor this, poor that).
