Sushmita Sen's fitness is an inspiration to many. So the news of her sudden heart attack shocked everyone. Her fans breathed a sigh of relief when she recovered. Not just the actor and former Miss Universe, many of her industry colleagues too suffered from the same and some of them succumbed to it. The names include the likes of Sidharth Shukla, KK, Satish Kaushik, Raj Kaushal, Raju Shrivastava, Puneet Rajkumar and Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi. Many are of the opinion that over-fitness consciousness and dieting are some of the root causes. Kamya shares her viewpoint.

“I feel it’s because of a lot of stress. Whenever I talk to my co-actors, they are all so stressed about not getting to work. If work is there then the tracks aren’t working well, and payments aren’t coming on time. Something or the other is there to worry about. There is stress to maintaining a certain lifestyle, plus there is competition as well. So many reputed actors are sitting at home because of so many newcomers. It’s crowded. People are asking for work and they are still not getting it. I feel we need to balance things,” she says.

The actor then refers to the dark times of the virus and how it affected many. “During Covid, there was a cut down on units but I feel it shouldn’t happen, rather you can call the unit on alternate days. One should not remove someone from work. So many creatives are sitting at home after Covid. People who are not from Mumbai and are working here, how will they pay their rent if 50 per cent of the payment is cut. I make sure that I don’t remove my house help from work, it’s my responsibility. One should not blame everything on mental health because that’s in our hands. If you give work to those who you removed from work earlier, then it will only help them,” she adds.

Kamya feels social media addiction is affecting us in a bad way. It also adds to the stress.

“When I went to Big Boss, I didn't know about social media. Today there is a big hype and after every 10 min people check their likes, followers or views or tweets. My daughter is 13-year-old and I have kept her away from all these things. I have not given her a phone. Today kids are born and their Instagram account is created, and later have a million followers when they grow up. I have seen big faces posting about their kids, saying that they are ready for collaboration. Today everyone wants easy money but I don't want this in my child’s life. I don’t use it much. If I like something I post it. When I do some good work then I like to share it with my friends. I don’t do anything under pressure. You can buy likes, comments and views, so these things have no value. These things don’t matter. I don’t ever remember when I last used my Facebook. Social media has become an important part of our lives but that doesn’t mean that we can’t live without it,” she says.
